One of the most used printing techniques is the screen printing. This is where a small woven mesh is used for the support of a stencil, which is ink-blocking. The stencil usually creates an open mesh area in which the ink as well as other materials used for printing are pressed from this mesh forming a very sharp image on the substrate. A roller is then moved through the stencil and this pumps the ink through these threads into the areas that are open. Screen printing is used in very many organizations because it is very reliable and lasts for quite a long time.
Screen printing is definitely more versatile compared to other traditional techniques of printing. This is because the surface which is being printed is not under pressure or planar. Inks of screen printing can also be used together with other materials like ceramics, paper, wood, glass plastic and metals. It is therefore in industries of balloons, decals, clothing, medical devices, snowboard graphics and product labels. There are many screen printing materials and they include caviar beads, expanding and discharge inks, mirrored silver, gloss, nylobond, metallic, suede ink and flocking.
Traditionally, the decoration of production garment has relied entirely on screen printing. This mainly includes printing of pictures and wordings on t-shirts. Over the years, screen printing has continued to be cost-effective and attractive when it is used on garments even though other methods have been used. Moreover, screen printing used on garments beats any other method when it comes to the cost for each print this is mainly because, the more the volume, the cheaper the print becomes. Additionally, with this printing, there is a wide selection of inks and they are not so expensive. Screen printing has been used for many years and it continues to get better in terms of quality.
